Printing from InDesign

Printing from InDesign has slowed. The first time printing from InDesign each day, we have to wait about 30 seconds or more before the print screen appears. We upgraded to Snow Leopard on some of the Macs a few months ago, but this didn't start happening immediately, so I don't think that's the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it a network printer? Could it be that InDesign needs to reestablish connection or obtain information from the printer?

How are you printing ? What are you printing to ? Using Bonjour ?

I've always assumed that InDesign was recreating some printing cache file that gets deleted when caches are cleared with CacheOutX. Are you using something similar to clear you caches daily?

Yes it is a network printer, Xante Illumina. We are actually sharing the printer through our server right now. We were originally printing over the network with IP printing and then JetDirect Socket, but we have been having other weird issues. We have 4 macs that print to the printer and at times only one person can print from Quark XPress directly to the printer without making a postscript file. We are thinking maybe a switch issue.

RAM is good, 3 GB.
