Problems with Ricoh c900

In the mean time they've worked on a solution in Japan for the C900 and was released last week, as far as I understood them, they can switch the fusingunit with a new different one that will solve most of the problems.

Best Regards,
Dennie

Dennie,

If you get a chance to talk with your tech, could you ask what bulletin or white paper references this fuser mod for the C900? I'd like to check the availability here in the States.

Tom/Hemlock

Sure thing, I just wrote him a e-mail so I should know more within a day or two.
I will be testing the C900 myself this Friday so will ask at Ricoh's HQ as well about this issue.

Hey Hemlock,

Just got a message back from the Ricoh tech I spoke too. He told me that he has to ask a productspecialist about this new fusingunit but that person is sick. I will hear from him as soon as he's better. I'll be in touch.

Dennie,

I definitely appreciate the follow up; though we don't have any major problems with the oil based fuser, eliminating a potential fail point is always a good thing.

Just got home from a demo off the C900, C901 and Pro 1107EX, love the machines, they have awesome quality, specially the C901. Just love it.

Asked the tech guy some questions too including the 'issue' with thick paper when printing duplex. He said that you can remove the bottom roll in the fuser to get much better prints when printing duplex. The only problem when doing this, is that your printer may leak some oil on the paper after the printer been in standby for a few hours.

So incase you are going to remove that roll make sure you run a couple of papers through the machine before printing your job.

If I find more info about this I'll post it here.

Ricoh Technical bulletin No. RG178129 issued on 05/01/11 explains about the new fuser for increased fusing performance on thick materials.

It is available in the EU already, not sure about the USA but it should be... hope this helps..

I do not have access to the RICOH technical bulletin servers. I think they would be restricted access anyhow. I get them via the service personnel. I only had a paper copy.. Ask your technician about it, if he's any good he should be able to help..
