Thanks, that will help. My work around has been to open print pdf's and use pitstop pro color convert action. It would only work on fills and not strokes, even though strokes selected.In the .ai file, I converted "black (copy)" to grayscale color mode, saved it, opened the .eps file and updated the link. This seemed to keep the black as just black.
