dear friends,

we have a problem with main motor control unit on Roland 308P, perfector has a fault causing it to intermittently drop sheets, but in straight print it runs fine and the computer, which controls the drives from the main motor is not working.
Main computer works fine, we heard that it is Thyristor drive fault .....any help is appreciated.

may want to check and make sure your stock is same size ,gripper to tail,, anything over or under 1mm can cause you grief.to small you drop sheets ,to big you tear sheets.. kbarz

same size ,gripper to tail......yes, but sometime machine work 20 minuts without error, then again drop sheets, sometime 1 hour without problem, then again start to drop sheets all the time....

check vacuum system at the reversing cyl,,make sure vacuum pads are not sucking air, and the ones if any that are not in use are turned off.. could be a slip in vacuum.. kbarz

If you are looking at buying this machine, i know the owner and can put you in contact if you are not direct.

There is a small motor that drives the gripper opening cam in the perfector get it checked by a man Roland tech, the etched marks on the cam surface have to a specific distance apart.
It could be that this motor is not properly tightened down, or that the cam is not being rotated to the set sheet size during the change from straight to perfecting or when making a sheet size correction in perfecting
