Sheet to Sheet Mis-Registration...

Does anyone know what machines like the Versant 2100 use to ensure sheet to sheet sided to side registration? I just took a couple of jobs over to be cut, and we are finding that everything we ran on Friday is varying as much as a 16th of an inch side to side. Could a sensor be dirty?

Service is coming Monday, but I thought someone might have an idea.

Turned out to be a toner covered sensor, which detects the edge of the sheet. If they could just reduce the amount of toner blowing around in the machine, the techs could take a vacation once in a while. lol
