Slow Printing With Graphics Pro and Selectset 7000

Suddenly a Graphics Pro Rip receives the Macintosh Files too slow, a 30 second page (before) now takes more than 4 minutes. It goes at a normal speed when the Agfa Selecstet 7000 is off. I check all the memory options and are Ok, I even increase the with no change. The network is not the problem, the rip copies files normally and at a decent speed. Any suggestion?

Since it sounds like you have ruled out a network issue, you may just want to try clearing out your RIP's old jobs.

To regain your RIP's original speed and also clear out any corrupted page buffers you can clean out the page buffers that have built up in your RIP. Doing this will delete any jobs that are stored in the RIP's Active Queue and Held Queue. To delete the page buffers you will need to quit the RIP then open the Hard Drive \ GIT \ SW \ PageBuffer folder. Delete all of the items (including all files and folders) that are inside the PageBuffer folder. Do not delete the Page Buffers folder but delete everything inside the PageBuffer folder. Be careful that you only delete the items in your PageBuffer folder. If you delete delete other files you may cause the RIP to become unoperational. After deleting the Page Buffer files you should be able to start the RIP software and test the throughput speed.

If this does not resolve the issue you may want to try downloading a demo version of the latest version of the RIP (on a separate computer from your existing RIP) and test it out to see if it can process the files any faster. You can download a TIFF RIP which is a basic RIP without any plugins which can be used for testing from Harlequin RIP Demo, RTI Harlequin Demo TIFF, Epson, HP, CTP Platesetter RIP Software.

This would at least help you figure out if your issue is related to the version of the RIP, the computer or possibly the network.

Is the content the same? Some content takes longer to image depending on complexity. Was anything reconfigured? a slugg line or some border marks, causeing the image area to be bigger? Have you dissabled runlength compression, (most rips have a setting to skipp large blank areas, could this have been dissabled?)
Are all lazers good? Can't remember the 7000 but some setters will half the speed to maintain constant energy if some of the lasers are defect.

That brings up a good point. Double check to make sure you have COMPRESSION enabled under the CONFIGURE RIP menu.

*Version of the RIP
*Network issues
*Job related issues
*Settings within the RIP
