If we can't trust people to make decisions on their own, then:
- Why let them drive those 2 ton metal boxes called 'cars'? It's a lethal weapon as many accidents prove each and every day.
- Why let them fornicate at the age they choose, pouring helpless babies onto the society?
- Why let them eat that crap one can buy at Walmart (since that's the number one cause of excess weight and all the related health problems)?

Actually you might get rid of all personal freedoms on the ground that 'people are not up to the task to govern their own lives'. That's what they tried at the darker half of the globe at it was called Communism. I've spent 20 years of my life in that system, so I do know what I'm talking about. Think about it: all setups, which absolve people of personal responsibilities (and the task of taking care of themselves) at the expense of restricting natural, everyday actions of other people, is just a well-disguised way to implement Communism again.
