Turn off borderless printing as default for Epson P9000 on a Mac

Is there anyway to turn off borderless printing as the default on our Epson P9000 on a mac? (not using a RIP). Every single time I print (and I print a lot), I have to reset the page set-up to: roll, from borderless. This was not the case when I printed to our Epson 9890, 9880 and 9800. Somewhere in the new epson software this is the default. I never, ever, print borderless and would love to remove it completely from the setting or make "roll" the pre-set.

Any words of wisdom.

I assume the Epson is installed like any normal Mac printer, meaning it is listed in the "Printers & Scanners" System Preference? If so, you may be able to disable this feature via the CUPS Administrator. CUPS can be accessed via your web browser by going to 127.0.0.1:631. Click the "Printers" tab at the top, click the Epson printer, click the second drop down menu (it will likely show "Administration" as its current selection), and choose "Set Default Options".

If the borderless print setting is there (which it should be), choose to disable it, and click the "Set Default Options" button at the bottom. This should disable it by default for each print job but it won't remove it from the settings page.

NOTE: to use CUPS, you will likely need to enable access to it using a Terminal command. The CUPS page will provide this command when you click the "Printers" tab at the top of the page if CUPS access is not already enabled. Simply copy and paste the command into Terminal to enable it.

Hey PD,

Thanks for that super helpful tip, I had no idea I could do that. Unfortunately it still defaults to borderless if I change the paper size ( I have 50-60 custom sizes) and each time I change to fit, it automatically goes back to borderless. If I save as a preset, it stays, but as soon as I change the size it defaults back to borderless. Funny, that in previous OS and printer software, my presets would override that borderless option. I never, ever, print borderless, and would love to remove or always have it go to roll. Again, thanks for that nugget of information and expertise.
