Has anyone experienced the following...

Sending a variable, 5000 record, two sided file to Fiery as PDF-VT. Occasionally the engine will make a stalling sound and the second side of records printing at that time will be blank. Might do it for two to three records and return to printing properly. Lucky we are catching this in finishing dept. or hearing the engine make the sound we know to stop and check print.

And BTW, The pdf when viewing it, has all the pages and sides, even the sides that are missing on the sheets.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer but you might try posting at communities.efi.com.

Question, have you tried toggling the APPE on or off?. Is your Fiery and/or the engine up to date with patches and firmware?

The problem APPEARS to be what is known as "clutching". This happens when the RIP and the printer are no synchronized. The printer just stops for a (very short) bit then starts. Solving the problem varies but one way is to feed the printer (thus the RIP) smaller batches.
