Versant 280 White Banding Mottle

Has anyone experienced these white mottle lines before on a Versant 280? See photos below. I've had 2 Xerox engineers out now and can't seem to find a solution.

I've never had this issue and I'm not sure what the solution would be. You may want to look at the drive coupling that connects the transfer belt to the flywheel. I understand that they can get broken and cause all kinds of issues. Pull out the drawer and look to see the plastic coupling that connects to the flywheel. I can post a picture of it on Monday if my description wasn't helpful.

lots of things to look at. These are in the direction of printing?

if so:

• 2nd BTR (though usually they all have the same image defects on every color)
• dev housings (are there lumps of toner in it?)
• durty ross windows (not impossible, but weird they are on every color)
• what do your drums look like?

The pic of all 4 colors looks like those could be 11x17 or similar sheets, and I'm guessing the white lines are in the cross-process direction. Faulty power supply maybe?

Cross direction?:

power as stated
pcb
the flywheel on the bed that co-locates with the 2nd BTR
bad cable harness/connection on the drum bed

check for dust and toner on the high voltage board, I had similar effects on an older Xerox.

I have a v280 and don't have that problem. I'm posting because I did have a different problem that took a dozen visits over the course of a year and was only solved when I finally reached and complained to the regional VP.

I'm not saying your techs or service team is an issue as they're probably different than my local team; however, I do recommend that you pressure them into fixing it because that's unacceptable.

I have used a variety of digital presses and my v280 produces a flood of one solid color better than any other machine I've used, so i know the v280 is capable.

Just to update everyone, it was the 2nd BTR that was causing this issue. Basically something mechanical was not correctly lifting the 2nd BTR unit up to make contact with the IBT belt and was bouncing hence the banding lines. All fixed after changing it.

I've gotten 2nd BTRs with bad lift mechanisms/bad home sensors. Glad they could figure it out.
