Wide Format Cutting

Hi guys,
Can you make recommendations on good wide format cutters and cutting solutions? I dont know much about brands or methods in this arena. Right now we just hand cut and we need something to make the process more efficient and accurate.

It would of course depend on the substrate…

One of our Accura MIS signage customer’s use something like this XY Cutter for “poster” work:

However for other materials and sheets, then an CNC cutting table may be better.

When you said that you “hand cut”, my natural thought that was you were at least using one of these!

What are you using, a metal rule and box cutter?

What thickness of materials are you cutting, can you position them into such a cutter and will the rotary blade provide a clean cut on your varied substrates?

Box cutter and a rule/clamp. Hardly accurate. We're cutting all the same stuff i just mentioned. Thats why I was asking here about cutters. I've used them in the past at other shops that had them but they never had logos or names on them. We are going to make a table apply a cutting surface (self healing mat) with measurements and we were thinking some kind of cutter.

We used a Foster Javelin at my old shop, I would recommend it. We used it to cut everything on your list. We had it mounted to a table that was "130"x60" or so and a ~128" javelin and were able to cut 4x8' boards without issue. Having extra room was very helpful.
