Xerox 700 Calibration

Good Morning Everyone,
I have 2 Xerox 700's and a CP 1000. How often should I calibrate? How necessary is it? I've Calibrated the machine now and then and only noticed a slight difference. Can anyone with knowledge on these machines explain this to me?

I'd calibrate it on a regular basis, such as once a week. Some people with color critical work do it every morning. It all depends on what kind of work you do and your results. If you do notice a difference, then you probably need to do it more often, as you should be keeping the machine producing at the same levels.

If you don't have a humidity controlled environment, you will probably need to do it more often. Humid conditions can throw it off. There is also an argument over whether one calibration can be enough for all the calibration sets, as is provided for in Command Work Station, or whether you have to calibrate for each set. My last tech said one calibration for all is enough, but others have been told to calibrate for each set. You might ask your tech.

Thanks for the info. I do notice that on occasion, all of our machines tend to print with a heavy magenta look. Maybe calibrating more often can help with that issue.

Watch the humidity, if you can. Anytime I have a cast on a print, it's usually the magenta, and humidity is usually the culprit, even with an envelope printer I operate. Unfortunately, I have no control over the environment here.

Thanks again. We can't really control the humidity and I know it's has a big effect on quality. I'm still learning how to adjust transfer settings which is sometimes required every other day.
