Xerox c60 - registration adjustment

Hello guys. I hope that someone can help me with my problem about registration on printer.

I have xerox c60 that have about 100k on itself. My main stock is premium papers like upm digi, fin print and xerox colotech 90% of all paper is 300gsm SRA3. I have bought some b1 paper that is 300gsm coated matt (maxi satin), trim to size and my trouble start from the begging. After few hours of trying to set registration on duplex I have give up. I get the 3 reg. Marks spot on and 4 is off by 2mm. If I switch to my xerox colotech 300gsm all 4 reg. Marks are spot on. I also try to cut paper to SRA3 dimension but on the same corner I get again 2mm of.

2mm are longer to the left side when you looking the paper how is laying in the tray 5. Long side left corner.

I can't adjust anything, because the most options adjust 2 corners. I try to trick it with some rotation and skew, but that is not working. Option that can be workaround, if I move the complete print to the right side, let say 1mm so that I split the difference. But that is fixing for book covers but for business card it's not.

My question is, can this maybe be a problem with fuser about temperature or pressure on one side that is stronger or higher. Can I somehow check what is the proper tension of the fuser? I think that maybe combination of pressure and temperature extend the paper.

Are you certain your paper is square?
Check by folding a sheet in half in each direction, if it's square, the corners will line up.

It's square, that was the first thing that came to my mind. After that I trim to SRA3 just to be sure and everything is OK.

Just a thought, but is the paper grain the same way round as the Xerox paper?

It seems that if the fuser pressure was uneven it would effect all papers the same. It's possible the paper with the issue is warping a little. This could be a grain issue as [email protected] suggested.

We had a C60 and this was the ball ache we use to have especially with thicker stock, as 300gsm is the limit for this machine. Whatever job I use to print, I always had to keep changing and setup registration as near as possible. With you cutting down B1, depending on the paper grain direction this could affect it. Also is digital paper or for litho? As sometimes when I used litho paper I have issues with registration. This is the main reason why we decided to upgrade to a Versant 280 for more control over registration, as the Versants are a production printer, where the C60 is really for general office/school environment.

Thnx for the info, but the short grain is on most papers I have. Do you find better for printing long grain? I just don't know what can be reason for extending only one corner. On xerox colotech, I have also a little bit of extending on the same corner, but start to lose my registration after 70%-80%. Just to simplify first 36-40cm of 45cm is perfect register, then I have like 0.5mm moving to the end. This is not problem nobody gonna see this 0.5mm but on other media when start to move 2mm I am potentially in a problem.

I attach the picture of colotech, that is pretty sweet spot for the machine and budget range.

I have print this business card on both side, design was on 2mm from the edge, and it was crucial to be spot on.
