Xerox Color 550/560 versus Xerox DC 2x2 Series

Xerox Durban

New member
Hi there.

I am new to this forum. We have a Xerox DC 252 and are looking at upgrading to the Xerox Color 550, there is only one problem, we cant establish any major differences between the 252 and the 550. Could someone possibly help?

Thanks.

The Biggest difference between the two is that the 550 uses Xerox low melt toner that was normally found on thier bigger production models. The 550 is also capable of being configured with with full faxing capabilities as well as full scanning capabilities.

Other than this, the two are identical. If you are looking for a step up, go with the Xerox 700.

Hope this helps!!

The registration is probably the most important improvement in my mind. The 550 actually has it - I don't think the 200 series ever did.

Yes, registration on the 252 .is ±1.5 mm along the lead edge for
all paper trays. Side edge registration is ±1.7 mm for Trays 1 – 4.

The 550 is ±0.7 mm along the lead edge for
all paper trays. Side edge registration is ±1.2 mm for Trays 1 – 4

Duplex:
- DC252 can only duplex uncoated paper up to 65lb cover
- X550 can duplex uncoated and coated (glossy) paper up to 65lb cover

More accessories:
- X550 can have a dual oversized capacity feeder or a booklet maker of 25 sheets

We have a 242 and a 550 in our shop and we had a lot of problems with the 550. I would give it a try for a month and decide for yourself. The panel interface is really nice and very easy to navigate.

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the replys, I am still looking into a new machine for our copy shop. I actually had a guy from Minolta come see me, what can you guys tell me about the minolta 6501 vs the Xerox 550.

Thank for your help.
