Xerox Versant 80 Unable to set Serial Number help?

I have a Versant 80 that the ESS-PWB is bad. I replaced the ESS-PWB from another machine, and when I go to set the serial number, after hitting confirm, I get the Unable to set serial number. Does anyone have suggestions for me? Is this not the correct way to do the serial number synchronization?

Procedure from service manual ask you to move some components from old ess to the new ess. How about the sd card? Did you move it? I think no.

Where would I find replacing the ESS from a donor machine in the service manual? Everything I find is about a new ESS. Thanks

Do not find. The procedures from sm is for replace defect component with new one. But when you switch components look at the steps from service manual as it is new component to see what you must do.
