I Cant for the life of me remember how to do this can somebody please help?
I am creating personalised jpegs from directtype and want to drop them into personalised calendars in indesign using xmpie. I can use uimage fine and the images change no problem but this needs a string or something to say for instance put jan1.jpg here next page feb1.jpeg etc then jan2.jpg, feb2.jpeg etc

Thanks in anticipation

Can you elaborate on what you're doing? Are you using uImage to create a folder full of images which you then want to dynamically swap in your InDesign file?

Hi, thanks for responding, yes thats exactly what we are doing, I have found a way round it to rename using the batch command in adobe bridge? so my folder is full of for instance
fred1.jpg fred2.jpg fred3.jpg for the january, feb, march months etc and then the next persons name....long winded but it works, if you have a better way please feel free to tell me I'm a numpty :O)

So, you're saying:
Fred1.jpg - January
Fred2.jpg - February
etc...

Bob1.jpg - January
Bob2.jpg - February
etc...

Now I need some information about your database - do you have one, and if so, what are the headers you will be using?

Ok so now it depends on how you're doing the calendar - basically, you will need some more columns in the database, possibly a column for each month. Then under each month you would put the image name that corresponds to the name next to it, and the month above it. For example, a January column would be placed next to your NAMES column and be filled downwards with bob1.jpg fred1.jpg, and so on.

Then after you create your uPlan plan with the Wizard, right click on the JANUARY ador and change the type to image. Do this for all the columns that have the image names in them. Make sure you go back to Data > Link to Sample Data... > and set your asset location to the folder containing all your jpgs.

Then, you should be able to insert the image Adors in InDesign into any rectangle or other object the way you insert text adors into text boxes.

Hope this help,

I'm not sure he really needs to change the db to pull this off. Couldn't he just make 12 image ADORS (1 for each month) like so:

(ADOR=JANUARY) |->[First_Name] & "1"

and then XMPie will pull whichever kind of image it finds in the asset folders with a name that matches?
