Indesign CS 5.5 (bugg with clipping paths)

It is very hard for the customer to prove that there is just one version of the image. This image has a clipping path in Photoshop. If the previous file had the same path but it was SET as clipping path after it is very hard to tell. Can we be certain the designer wasn't placing a Low-rez file...

Indesign CS 5.5 (bugg with clipping paths)

Haven't used clipping paths in years. Is there any special file format? Tiff, PSD, JPG? Does it happen in InDesign? Can you see it in InDesign or is it downstream in your workflow? I would check for double clipping paths that are near identical. Without the files can only speculate as to what is...

    Indesign Find / Replace

There is an option called paste remembers layers.. if that's what you need. It is one of those global preferences that is not document specific. Also the idea of having 60+ layers seems strange I would recommend Gabriel Powells book Instant Indesign (InstantInDesign.com) even if it's CS3 t goes...

InDesign CS5 and Magic Mouse driving me nuts...

:( I have my trackpad get disabled when I connect my bamboo... just 'cause I hate the scroll by mistake. It really is strange that apple won't let you configure the mouse per application, keyboard shortcuts can be controlled by app (and so can wacom tablets, joysticks and other HID) It was...

InDesign CS5 and Magic Mouse driving me nuts...

I don't have a mouse (except the one that visits the kitchen) Use a bamboo and a trackpad. But would suggest you try turning off the multi-gesture support in the InDesign prefs (will dissable pinch scaling and rotation of objects which i find happens involuntarily on a laptop)...*does it help?

Saving large .ai files as PDFs?

You can use save for web and devices from illy and use jpg, or png if file size is the important thing…*CSRs shouldn't need editability.

    Cs6?

CS4 was the last version that was targeted for Print we must assume as they wrote of the ASP and AASP programmes just before releasing CS5. There have been things on the Print wish list for years that have not been implemented :( still I'm hoping to get my hands on a pre-release so I can be up...

    Workflow mistakes!

Print out this thread and let your manager hear how others in the industry are thinking…*hopefully they wake-up. If not maybe time to start looking for a place to go when the ship sinks ;)

    Workflow mistakes!

It may be a good idea to routinely file all error, irrespective of where they occur, then once a month call the dep. heads together (or representative) to find out where the error should have been first intercepted, and what the cost of "repairing" (re-printing, re-plating, redoing, standstill...

    Workflow mistakes!

The question is not if you can affort and imposition software…*but if you can afford the mistakes that are more frequent by NOT having an imposition software. Also a routine of having two people other than the person who made the imposition sign the imposition. Preferably the project manager...

Acrobat or InDesignCS4 script to print discrete pages

Do you use hotfolders? In Acrobat you can split a file using the command, you guessed "Split Document" in the pages tool (Acrobat X) acrobat 9 it was in a menu somewhere. You can choose to split by file size or number of pages or even top level bookmarks, and get option to name your parts. If...

    Riddle Me This

I remember it as Gordo says. If you had a too low dpi you would get octagonal "o"s etc. The flatness setting is still there in Photoshop if you look at clipping path. There is a way to get to it in PDF, but it's ages since I saw any PDF that suffered from flattness, but guess that's cause it...

Do we have any script wizzards in the forum?

I'm looking for a script that can replace a "find" expression, typically "myImage.jpg" with character style "imageLabel" (or GREP expression would also work), with a linked image of the file "myImage.jpg" in an anchored object, with objectStyle "myObject". I can find a script to look for fames...

Anyone looked at new Altona tests?

:) nice to hear it puts your RIP to trial... what's the point of a test if everyone passes ;) I got a message through another forum from JP Homan that the 1.2 Suite is the current physical test suite. Think I will need to study the PDF's a bit more… but keep responses coming :D

    Software for checking reference

I'm trying to help out to set up some quality control procedures at my "old" job, so I'm wondering if there is any basic software to run reference check on a Ugra/Fogra Media Wedge CMYK v3.0. The idea is that the operator should be able to scan his/her reference and see how values compare to...

Anyone looked at new Altona tests?

21 december the Altona Test suite 2.0 was released, as I understand it. It's supposed to be a test for PDFx4, opentype etc… (Technical Page 2 of the Altona Test Suite 2.0 released [ECI.ORG]) Just wondering if anyone had looked at them, and if so would like to hear your opinions.
