Like Stephen said, PitStop is currently limited to curve adjustments on raster images. Alwan CMYK Optimizer can perform curve adjustments to all PDF content. I think Bodoni Systems' InkWize can do it, too.

If you're working and saving in Lab, then it doesn't matter what your CMYK policy is. "Preserve embedded profile" only has an effect when opening an image that has an ICC profile attached that differs from the profiles specified in your color settings.

Your Photoshop settings really don't have anything to do with Productionhouse. If you don't embed profiles in your images, you're just restricting the information Productionhouse has to work with. Productionhouse will have to use the assumed source profiles you put into your settings.

I used to use ColorLab for this. Unfortunately, it doesn't run under Mountain Lion. In a Windows environment, I think you can still run it. I'm pretty sure Babelcolor's CT&A will do this. Robin Meyers Imaging's SpectraShop may, also.

You say that they all appear slightly different. Do some of them indicate that lighting is good while others show that the lighting is unacceptable? D50 was redefined a few years back; are all of the stickers you have up to date? Are the bulbs in your booth up to date?

Worked with a press the other day that had no ink fountains, fountain rollers, or ductors. Instead the ink was pumped directly onto the metering roller. Probably old hat to many of you, but it was new to me.
