I have never heard of a "Pacifier" object before (assuming that this is a PDF object/defintion)

I opened my 6th edition of the PDF Reference manual for the Adobe Document Portable Format (Version 1.7) and searched for the string "Pacifier' and did not find this term on any of the 1310 pages.

I then opened the Addendum and could not find this string.

I would be surprised to learn that ALWAN has inserted anything into the PDF that is "private" - and this may be that the import module may need to insert something, and the PDF file and the import module are not getting along somehow.

The only time I have heard of the term Pacifier was with an application that some windows XP users use when they want to prioritize what files are processed first (this was a long time ago through)

anyway, I would submit you ALWAN PDF to Esko and ask for help - there may be some small setting that need to be changed.

Sorry I could no be of much help here.

Michael,
I appreciate you looking into it. I resaved a different pdf and did not run it through Alwan and it went fine. I agree that somewhere along the line they are not playing well together.
I'll give esko a call and see what's happening.
thanks again
