colour separations in illustrator

Hi All can illustrator make colour separations ! i.e. I want to make 4 files one for each colour as my large format printer (RIP shiraz) controls the output, I would like to make all the files in black, if a file is in magenta it prints the film in magenta, the RIP isnt made for separations so I want separate them first.

If all will be in black don't you get problems with screen angles? You can print seperations from Illustrator, If you want more control, maybe Phantasm CS would be something for you or ESKO (if you have the budget for it).
