Compatability with Snow Leopard

Hi

Does anyone know if any versions of Apogee X are ok to run on Mac OS X 10.6 in 64 bit mode?
If so, which version(s)...

Thanks

Simon

everything needs to be Cocoa - re-written by developers. At launch, Apple sw, and QXP v8.1 and Adobe CS4 will work - all other apps, drivers, utilities need to be re-released as Mac OS 10.6 specific. Most major developers are releasing 10.6 (Cocoa) apps (MS and Adobe CS5) in 1st Quarter of 2010.

Never update a mac without checking macfixit.com 1st :)

So does that mean it will not run at all under snow leopard?
Even if I tell Apogee to run in 32 bit (get info, check run in 32 bit button), while snow leopard is running in 64 bit?

Thx

Simon

I have not tried with the latest Apogee system as I do not use those anymore, i am just speaking from a support specialist point of view of the trial and tribulations one will have upgrading to 10.6. Contact all the developers of the products you rely on to make you money. never upgrade anything until you're sure there's compatibility.

The Apogee server does not run on ANY Mac OS.

The Apogee client DOES work on macs and PCs alike.

Agfa's release notes state that version 6.0 is compatible with Mac OS 10.4 and above.

I have not tried it with 10.6. But, it seems Agfa is commited to staying current with Apple.

I think any Apogee user knows your statement about client VS the System itself - that was never the question. I work for a major company who says it's products and drivers work on Mac OSX. Mac OS
10.6 is a whole different story and our developers are scrambling to update code3 - sales are scrambling to update compatibility matrix'. As I mentioned before, if you currently own an Agfa Apogee system, check with Agfa about 10.6 compatibility - even if it's not compatible (job submission thru a driver), then you can always import PDFs directly into the system - but again, I have not used an Apogee system in 7 years.

Well, I bit the bullet, and just went for it!

I installed 10.6, and am running in 64 bit mode and the Apogee client which we use on our Mac's runs just fine. Even though if you get info on the application itself, it says it's a PPC app!

So I have answered my own question...

Thanks for all who contributed

RE: 10.6 and ApogeeX

RE: 10.6 and ApogeeX

Hello.

We have ApogeeX Mac OS Clients installed and have updated to 10.6. We have, however, run into heaps of problems, mainly to do with networking.

In 10.5, we connected to all XServer shares via SMB. In 10.6, we can still connect fine to the shares via SMB, but ApogeeX moans that the share is not mounted, even though it is. It is as though ApogeeX is reading the paths incorrectly. This is backed up by the fact that when I chose a PJTF template from a share, and click open, the path in ApogeeX displays "\\\PJTF Templates" (yes, three slashes) whereas in 10.5 it displayed "\\XServer1\PJTF Templates".

If I mount the shares as AFP, this problem is resolved. I can now select templates and the path is read correctly. HOWEVER... a second problem crops up where AFP is unable to read long filenames, so many files then become truncated and unusable. I am also unable to connect to the XServer AFP shares by choosing anything other than 'Guest'.

I am really confused and stumped as to what to do next as we are not in the best position to downgrade the OS.

Any ideas?

I can't believe anyone in prepress, or any production environment would jump on an OS upgrade like this without extensive testing. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Just to let you know, I have resolved my issue by using third-party software on Windows Server 2003 to share via AFP 3.0. Everything is now running smooth!

ExtremeZ-IP 6.0. Really simple and has solved the network problem. We now connect to the XServer via AFP instead of SMB.

Alternatively, you could use a more recent version of Windows Server.

Using Apogee 5 (client 1.38.212) on Snow Leopard I was able to use an Automator application to mount the SMB shares and then the same shares as AFP and not have any issues.

Mac 10.6 and Apogee 1.4 issue

I have been reading the post here and I am having the same issues. We had to upgrade to Intel macs due to Adobe CS5 standards and we mount to Apogee server via smb. I tried mounting afp but I get the user and password screen and nothing works to log in. I get the error message in apogee claiming volume not mounted. Any help appreciated
