ECRM Scriptsetter VR36

Hi everybody;

This is my first post on this forum. I hope that I will receive some answers.

I found an ECRM Scriptsetter VR36 (capstan) in good conditions for an attractive price but I am not sure if it can make good quality images especially for full colour printing. I would like to have your advice on this machine.

Plz I have to answer quickly to benefit for the offer.

Thank you all for your help.

Depends on what your doing and what you have. I don't even know if you can still buy film for that imagesetter. I ran one years ago and it did a great job as long as you did the PM's on it. I would guess the rip would struggle these days with just about every application using some form of transparency now.

Thanks almaink for your answer.

I think it requires laser film, am I right?.
If it's the case thank there is no problem as it's still available here in morocco.

What do you mean by doing the PM's on it?
I am sorry if my questions sounds stupid, I don't know much about imagesetters.
Thanks again.

Both of them run IR film or just the VR36?
What happen if I put Laser film in it? would it work? I asking this because the seller asked me t bring Laser film and test it.

Just VR models use IR film.
HeNe laser film wont be exposed properly with IR laser diode - you will see only gray shadow of the image even at maximum exposure level of VR36 because of film selective sensitivity
