Fiery Color Question

Xerox 700i Cyan is printing way to dark, color calibrations are not correcting the problem. I print the same file to our 550 with the same style Fiery and it's perfect. I am sending as RGB, because CMYK has a very washed out look.
Additionally, when I create a new color calibration name, how do I "assign it" to a paper type?

That looks like an issue with how your RIP is reading the RGB information. Have you tried a different RGB source within the Color input tab?

Yes I have tried all the options.

also it is only the cyan we're having trouble with. The rest of the colors are perfect.

No, the whole document is way darker, not just the cyan. The colormanagement settings on the DFE atteched to the 700 is somehow mismatched. There might be a default 'darkening' enabled for RGB documents, or 'image enhancement' switched on (a rarely used Fiery feature). Try to convert the doc to CMYK in Acrobat, then make a print and post the result.

Yes printing in CMYK does solve the issue, but my customers do not want the CMYK output becuase it looks washed out. RGB is bright, crisp and the colors are vibrant. When I print CMYK everything is dull. Again I print this file RGB on my 550 and 560 with no issues. We have checked for the image enhancement and the "darken/lighten" settings both are as they should be. Any ideas as to correcting this issue?

Fiery settings on the 700i must be the reason. You have to carefully compare the settings (and all other, color-related aspects) of the DFEs driving the 550/560 and the 700i. In our practice the most common error is that the document has images in some high volume RGB color space (profiles are embedded in the PDF), like ProPhoto RGB or AdobeRGB. If the DFE does not honor the embedded profiles, then the printout will be less colourful, since the DFE's default is sRGB (a smaller volume color space).

On the other hand, why don't you run the whole job on one of the smaller machines?

Same problem. Just made the page a jpeg to fix. Canon prints perfectly w/ Fiery. Xexox is a little dark without a Fiery. Xerox told me I don't need a Fiery, and for the most part, that is true.
