Has anybody tried IR drying with a Printmaster? What equipment is needed? How effective is it reducing drying times? How much would I need to invest to implement it'
Which Printmaster is it? Heidelberg made Printmaster 13X18 presses (old QuickMaster), Printmaster GTO's and
Printmaster 52's.
You probably could put an IR Dryer. Airtec used to make them.
I am not sure if a dryer can be added on to that type of press. Check with Heidelberg or an after-market provider of dryers. IR drying will help the drying process for oil based inks but consider how you use it. Most inks today set up very quickly and depending on coverage can be sent through for a second pass without dryers. If you print 4 color work on a 2 color press and the heat is too high, you might get a distortion in the paper which can lead to registration problems.
