Hello, first of all thank you so much to all of you who make time to read this, and my appreciation for those who answer.

I'm new in the printing bussines, specially in the offset area, as I have actually worked with digital printers before.

I bought a small duplicator, an AB Dick 360, which i was quickly trained to operate, yet I have been succesfull in producing one job! but still, i hesitate in many parts of the process, I have read two PDF's posted in this forums, which actually helped a lot, but still, have some questions.

My mentor, who is actually an employee where i bought the press, recomended to wash the rollers using Paint Thinner to washout completely the machine, but I really wouldn't want to mess up with my rollers at this point (since iI am just starting the business) so my question really is, is it safe to use this thinner to washout the rollers?

Thank you so much for your help.

I would not recommend using paint thinner on your rollers, blankets or for washing out your plates. There are loads of press ready washes which have been developed for those applications. I would ask your roller supplier what they recommend.
good luck

You can use paint thinner to wash up the rollers, and replace them every 6 months, or you can use any of the readily available press washes and maintain the rollers for a few years.
You hands will appreciate the press wash also.

Thank you so much for the info, and abusing of your attention, what if paint is not removed completely with normal blanket wash? because ive seen paint even after complete cleaning.

You mean ink, right? Don't go putting some artist's paint on your rollers... I don't know what will happen because I've never tried it, but it doesn't sound like a good plan.

Artist's paints are generally linseed oil based, though... so, I wonder?

Oh yes, I meant Ink, sorry, mexican here!

saidmontiel, you can get roller cleaning paste that will do a good job of cleaning off your rollers - ask your ink / chemicals supplier. You clean the rollers regularly with the wash-up fluid, then after that, put on some cleaning paste and run the rollers in it for 5 minutes or so, then clean off the dirty paste with wash-up fluid.
