all toner and uv drying inks, sheetfed. inkjet are plastics. most inkjet inks contain forever chemicals. all indigo inks are plastics. all landa inks are plastics. There use to be a recycling mill by midway airport inkjet inks killed it when you have to throw out over 30% of your feed source to make clean paper your profitability disappears. As of now the only way to clean the waste water of inkjet forever chemicals is to steam distill .

The printing industry is heading toward an environmental disaster ..Just think we are small potatoes in the overall picture of manufacturing.

Virtually all paper can be recycled if printed using recyclable printing methods. The technology has been around for decades and ignored by most.

round 2

For years the enviro groups were clamoring to lower the voc's in every thing associated with offset printing. we must reduce the use of petroleum. Today almost all consumables are embedded even more in Petroleum chemicals. Can you name any press washes, metering roller cleaner, plate cleaner, degreasers, fountain solutions that are not petroleum based. Guess what very little has changed.
And now introducing plastics in inks so they can be cross linked with photoinitiators (nasty chemicals made from petroleum)
Add all this up we are digging a bigger holed dependent on OIL. While adding to the micro plastics that are everywhere in virtually every organism on the planet. Next the forever chemicals that are finding their way into our water supplies.

ASK your supplies provider for info. Get all the cass numbers for the chemicals in their products. Do an internet search of the cass numbers. Then ask are there alternatives. Find out who is using the alternatives and performance they are experiencing.

Next find out what are press speed limitations using uvproduts. How do you control ink misting. What are the health ramifications of breathing the mist which contains pigments, monomers , oligomers, photoinitiators, along with fountain solutions.

more info in the coming weeks

I have noticed your older posts promoting Bestchem and Habitat inks. I am responding to seek clarification on whether your intent is to provide educational content or to promote specific brands within this forum.

Regarding the technical specifications mentioned, are you aware that PTFE and PFAS ingredients are currently banned in offset inks? Furthermore, UV, H-UV, and LED inks have long been formulated without BPA (Bisphenol A), Benzophenone, Phthalates, and TMPTA (Trimethylolpropane Triacrylate) to comply with environmental regulations and Prop 65 requirements.

I look forward to your thoughts on these points.

Education only.
I am retired. No longer associated with any supply companies.
The forever chemicals damage has already happened. Banning them doesn't remove them just prevents more accumulation.
All uv inks and uv inkjet and toners are still plastic. That hasn't changed.
I think that all cass in this industry should be available too all no hiding behind trade secrets on SDS sheets.
There should be nothing to hide.
China's photo initiator main plant exploded. China got out of the photo initiator too dangerous. production moved to India.
The point of all of this plastic is bad as forever chemicals they don't go away they accumulate.
When I was associated with the supply side we didn't wait for the chemical banning our products never had them.

Love the lamb chop sideburns. Has anyone ever said that you remind them of John Lennon in this video?
