New printing ink from Recognition Systems

Dot Works / Recognition Systems of Port Washington, NY has a new ink, called Star Dot PW5. It is formulated for sheetfed, offset printing, and is suggested for publication & commercial work on paper and board, for straight & perfecting presses.

Product Features:
  • Vegetable based—free of mineral oils,
  • Faster dry times,
  • Longer stay open time,
  • High gloss even when overcoating is not an option,
  • Complies with ISO 2846-1 & allows printing to ISO12647-2,
  • Dries by penetration & oxidation, forming a robust ink film,
  • Free from cobalt based drying catalysts,
  • Suitable for any matte / silk coated papers,
  • Suitable for gloss coated stocks, uncoated stocks and coated cardboard,
  • Can be overprinted with oil-based or water-based overprinting varnish,
  • Does not require to be run with a special fountain solution.

This must be a resell of some ink manufacturers product. My guess would be Superior, but is only a guess.

Another private label "me too" product. Yippee.. Probably Sun since that's what their other inks are.
