Output Preview Color Management

I'm wondering where I'm going wrong.

I trying to create an Output Profile for viewing onscreen proofs. I ran an IT8 chart on our Integris proofer. That is what I'm trying to match (at the moment).

The onscreen profile has much less magenta and yellow and too much cyan in the shadow end - so I adjusted in Profile Wizard Mio.

The onscreen color didn't change. I used our Press Profile for our Source Profile and the new Integris Profile for the Destination Profile.

In Profile Wizard Mio the color change dramatically - but not when I use it in Acrobat --> Advance --> Print Production --> Output Preview.

Thank you for any help,
Linda Nivin

First question...
I'm assuming your Integris proofer is already being "color-managed" using ICC profiles. In other words, it's already attempting to simulate some sort of press/printing condition. This would be the source profile used in your Integris. Why not simply use THIS profile as your soft-proof? If you're Integris is matching this source profile adequately, then you should be able to use this same source profile for soft-proofing.

Second...
Profile editing...you're probably editing the wrong "side" or table in the profile. If you want to edit the soft-proof side of the profile (the Device-to-Lab(PCS) table), you'll need to select that in your profile editing software. Editing the Lab-to-Device table will have no effect on the soft-proof.

Third...
You're sure your display has been calibrated and profiled correctly? This is really the FIRST thing in getting an accurate soft-proof. If you're not calibrating/profiling your display using good software and good colorimeter or, preferably, spectrophotometer, then all bets are off as to what you'll get with your soft-proof.

I must say, good luck even if you have all that correctly set up - very few vendors have a solution that actually works, and even fewer do that while in Acrobat.

it is quite problematic and challenging to do this...

Would this "green" profile work just as easily if it is provided to the customer and they select it in Acrobat --> Ouput Preview?

This is close to what I am trying to achieve, but not quite as dramatically. :)

The final result in for the Output Preview on a monitor.

I'm wanting to edit our Integris Proofer Profile, so I'm selecting it as the Destination.

I'm not sure what to select as the Source, so I'm using our Press Profile.

I've tried it the other way also, with Source being the Integris, and Destination being the Press.

The adjusted profile doesn't work either way. I'm wanting the final profile to have a color to the Paper White Point (that part works). But I also want added magenta and yellow and less cyan (this part doesn't work).

Is there a way to modify an existing profile on it's own (i.e., just edit the Integris profile)?

Thanks,
Linda

an output profile is selected in InDesign

an output profile is selected in InDesign

Nope. Which was precisely whay i shared my silly use case with you. See step 8.

While one might suggest "hey, if i can inject an ouput intent into a PDF using InDesign, why can't I inject an Output Intent in a PDF?" - my answer would be "then simply print that PDF through a print system that can apply the output intent"
