We have recently added a TXT Planning option to DataManager's web portal. It provides the ability to digitally connect to MIS systems, convert orders, receive graphics (FTP and other), compare and fix all supplied TXT pages boxes, run through Pitstop workflows, extract, merge to finalized the compose PDF then used to build a list of required signatures with page assignments, Each signature is then assigned a JDF fold to use, which then can be used to send all that into a planning engines like Metrix or Impostrip, then read the output JDF . We have a JDF planning page that turns the layout JDF into a visual picture with the PDF thumbnails imposed. We then can print out Bindery reports, layout reports, or view the job and all is layouts in a Web Browser Press side. the Display JDF page highlights any position placement or organizational issues for QC purposes, or reports. Standard layout JDF can be saved into templates, and redeployed with new pages and content without going back through Planning engines to change the Digital Layout (think of it like a Die that needs to be populated)
there are also workflows to handle page changes and updates with a complete history to those changes throughout every printing of the book, perfectly accurately without any order entry since it's built upon the layouts JDF to display this information
