Ricoh 9100 Ghosting?

Does anyone on here have any experience with what appears to be Ghosting on a 9100. It only happens on gloss stock. It appears to be pulling the image from one side and transferring it to the other. I have tried various paper settings, setting gaps longer/shorter, turning voltage Up/down and every other trick in the book I can think of. It is getting very frustrating and since we are the only joint in our area with a 9100 our Techs aren't terribly familiar with this piece of equipment. Any ideas or has anyone seen this before?

Not sure if you can see in the pic or not but its above the 7pm

I'm in the same boat here with my 9100, I'm the only one in my tech's area. I can see that easily in the picture you attached. I'm pretty new with this machine so I'm just throwing this out there, have you tried assigning this job which is on gloss coated stock to a color profile for matte stock or even uncoated stock? I've had to do that a time or two to get colors to match but so far I've never run into this image memory problem. Good luck and please post what fixes this for you.

what weight paper? is the image of "Wednesday" on the back in register to this side and the paper is just to thin for this coverage?

I suspect a layering issues, as in a previous thread on here, the image is actually in the file just in a layer that doesn't show when viewed on the monitor. What type file do you have?

It is 100# Cover and It is definitely not a layering issue because I built the file so I know whats in it. The pic is just a small sample but pretty much all type and images are having the same result and it doesn't do it on every sheet in exactly the same way. It is beginning to feel like an episode of unsolved mysteries. It is not just on this job but ANY job that I print on Gloss no matter weight or brand

Bah Humbug (revising my last statement) it appears to be significantly worse when I run it on Blazer Than anything else. I tried some titan gloss...still there but better and then some everyday digital gloss and it completely went away so i guess it is a paper issue and not mechanical. Anybody want to buy a Skid of Blazer Gloss? :)

I have fixed something that looks like that on other models by lowering the fuser temp, increasing the space between sheets, running the belt smoothing roller, or replacing the belt.

Here is a pic of the Problem I am having along with the ghosting on gloss. this problem seems to go away with other stocks tho. The ghosting is very hard to get a full sheet pic of. I did lower the temp, increased the gap and ran the smoothing roller. My tech thinks it might be a cooling belt??

This looks like something different than the first picture that ghosting on the first image is a fuser problem, someplace else on the page has a negative Wednesday right? To change the gap you tried 126: [CPM Adjustment] right? That second image looks more like it's not filling in like a transfer problem at least in the picture anyway. The lines are in the feed direction right?

Yes the lines are in the feed direction. Guess I have not been extremely clear in this post (been getting frustrated with this one) there are 2 problems on the gloss prints. Ghosting and the lines that run through the prints. I have sorta managed to get rid of the lines but the ghosting persists. Things tend to get worse if I use the Paper Identification unit and the ghosting gets worse the more the machine runs. It is very similar (if you are familiar with offset at all) to what is called "Gas Ghosting" the image from the backside appears on the front side of the sheet. My tech is supposed to be in this morning so I will discuss your ideas with him. Thanks for all the input. I absolutely love this machine but this gloss issue is wearing on my soul :)

Sorry just look for CPM adjustment then those numbers seem to change. I hope they figured it out for you by now!

Yes we finally got there. Tech was in on Friday and we started Lowering 88 (fusing temp) and 90 (fusing pressure roller temp) in increments of 2 until the problem completely vanished. I was a little surprised at how far we turned the temps down before the issue was resolved. I was half expecting the toner to rub off with my fingernail but it all seems good. Like I said earlier my local techs and myself are kind of learning this machine as we go but she is an amazing machine with a few bugs here and there. I have been running KM for the last 6 years and Xerox about 6 years before that and it is definitely gonna take a little bit of getting used to. Thanks for all your input

Good to know, and thanks for posting what fixed it. I get my "RCOP" training in about 3 weeks so I'll be sure I learn how to do this.

How long have you had your Machine? Only complaint I have about the Advanced Operator Training is that it was done within a month of our install. I now believe that it should be done at least 3-4 months after install so you get to learn the bugs and what type of issues might need to be addressed. Right now I am having major problems with "Fireflies" on Un-coated paper due to what I believe to be a lack of humidity "at least that was the cause on my old KM machines. I have tried all the tricks that I used to try with the KM engines but the Ricoh doesnt respond the same way. Would really like to have some of that training time back now to address some of the issues that can only be found with time

Thanks for posting what they did! The toner melts at a pretty low temp on these newer machines but will go from fusing goos to not being fused at in a few degrees.

Got a firefly picture? What we call fireflys would be fixed by a toner refresh but that would not really matter what the paper is.

I've had it for about 5 weeks. The first 2 days I had a trainer with me (and my boss) but of course I had to keep up with getting production out during this time so I missed a lot of stuff. My boss was with the trainer the whole time so I have to look to him to fill in the gaps for me. It seems like my timing is more like you would prefer because I'll be running about 2 months before I get the advanced training. As it is now I'm helpless when it comes to trouble shooting and coming up with work-arounds which is very frustrating! Of course I've got the gang here at PrintPlanet which is great. Currently I'm fighting some sort of a scuff, toner mark on the gear side, right about the middle of a 12 x 18 sheet, the only thing I know how to do is that belt smoothing which doesn't seem to help at all with this. See attached, any suggestions as to what this is and how to get rid of it. Sometimes it looks mostly cyan others more of a combination of Y and M. Roughly every other sheet, but not always. Thanks in advance.

I would yield to Msager on this one. Its kind of hard to say from the Pic but is the line in the exact same spot every time and does it repeat any where else on the sheet?

Maybe I am using the wrong terminology. I am having white spots inside of a color fill. It only occurs on one type of paper but as soon as I am able to get the humidity up it will usually take care of itself. When I get in every morning the humidity is sitting around 15% which is difficult to deal with. It is always a battle during the winter months here in the great white northwest
