Roland VersaCamm network connectivity issue

We have a Roland VersaCamm SP-300i. It will frequently loose its network connection. This of course interrupts jobs going through and it stops printing. If we disconnect it from the network and use a crossover cable from the Versaworks PC directly to the printer, everything works fine. Good ping test. If we switch it back to the LAN we get bad ping tests. Anyone have an idea why this might be the case? We don't seem to have any network cable problems at that switch and everything else on there works fine. Thanks in advance!

The IP is ok. No address conflicts. We have also rebooted the other switches on the network. No positive result. This printer is the only device in our shop that is having this difficulty. So stumped as to why it seems to hate being on the LAN.

You need to do a process of elimination. Try changing to a different network cable altogether as the cable could be bad. If you get the same results, try plugging it into another nearby network port on the wall to see if the wall port is good/bad. If it works fine, then you most likely have a faulty network card on the Roland that needs to be replaced since that's the only thing left. We had ths happen with a 6 year old HP, and a 7 year old Epson...eventually the network cards went bad for no particular reason.

Good advice Jay. also replace the cables with newer cat5 or higher try a twisted pair. When it goes offline is there a log file?
