Selectset 7000 density issues

Recently density has been going downhill.
I've cranked the density all the way up and it's not the developer.
I've been told that it could be the laser.
Is there something I can try before we buy a new laser?
Thanks,
Mike

If you can see optical density varied step-to-step at internal density test , but you can't reach max D - laser age problem.
If you don't see step-to-step variations but the same D on every step - laser power supply or circuit problem.
Only serviceman could tell you correctly the reason and the remedy.

Having same problem.
Boosted density from 500 to 700.
Okay now, but maybe laser is dying.
Where to buy/install new laser?
I'm in northern Ohio.
Appreciate all suggestions.

All real HeNe lasers (tube body) are dying slowly.
Your laser has a label/sticker at its body with some manufacturer info.

I bought it used 9 years ago.
Never a problem til now.
Have about 2 years to go to retirement (I Hope).
Maybe it will last -- you think?

From my AGFA Field Service experience: all users, who used SelectSet 5000/7000 had laser issues sooner or later. High voltage power supply problem - more frequently, first laser replacements in 7-8 years after machine installation.
