Toner yield in Xerox Versant 280?

I'm about to add the printer Versant 280 to help the Ricoh Pro C5200. But I don't know how yield the toners are, the amount that Xerox tells me does not seem consistent to me. I would appreciate it if anyone knows how much the toner yields on the Versant 280. The toners are smaller than the C5200. Thank You!

I assume you're not getting a service contract. If that's the case I would not recommend Xerox. Their part reliability is weak, especially in recent years.

Thanks for your answer. The service contract covers everything except toners. (USA$ 0.02 13x19) But I don't know the yield of the toners. That's why my indecision

That's unique for a contract. Where are you located?

Depending on coverage I do find our v80 can eat toner. Not sure how it can be calculated.

I don’t have a versant but I used to have a couple j75s, which look to use similar toner cartridges. On the j75s, I could run certain heavy coverage jobs, 1500 duplex 13x19 sheets, and consume 14 bottles of toner.

wow, that's crazy. My yield at 70% on the Ricoh Pro C5200 is approx. 7,000 13x19 with one set of toner

Central America, thank you. Worried, no one gives me any good advice on the Versant 280. I'll go for the Ricoh Pro C5300…

This is a odd service contract if it doesn't include toner. If it were me, I would tell Xerox I’m not interested in the 280 unless it’s an all inclusive service contract. I have a Versant 280 and also had a Versant 80. I would guess the toner usage is the same for both and I do remember seeing a final toner coverage for the 80 when the lease ended. Over the period of the 60 month lease toner usage was actually under 5%. I was surprised at this but then considering that I also print a fair amount of envelopes it does make sense. I have never used anywhere near 15 cartridges for full coverage on 1,500 13x19 and I do a lot of full coverage jobs.

The other issue with this contract is will your service provider be the sole provider of toner? If not, then that leaves you open to blame for any toner issues that cause damage to drums. Xerox had a significant manufacturing problem with toner that caused drums to fail prematurely, some drums failed instantly. I wouldn’t risk having them blame me for Xerox manufacturing faulty toner.

Unless there’s a compelling and very specific reason you prefer the Versant 280 I would walk away from it and go with the Ricoh. I do like the Versant 280 but I have no confidence in Xerox any longer, too many toner issues, drum issues and 2nd BTR failures when running coated stock. All these problems should have been resolved by now.

.02/click for black/color not including toner? Run away from that offer. The avg color click price (to 13x19) is around .038 including toner. If you do a lot of Black only that will eat you alive.

I believe the 2nd btr issues have been resolved with the new style (stainless steel) 2nd btr roll.

Unfortunately the steel roller still doesn't solve the problem. It's more durable and easier to clean off but there's still an issue of contamination within the 2nd BTR when running coated stock. I'm not sure if the contamination is occurring at the scraper, roller brush or wax bar. The streaking will still occur with the steel roller and the 2nd BTR box can be empty of waste so it's not waste toner building up inside the box. Replacing just the scraper can get you back to printing but it won't last long.

The new steel roller creates a different problem and that is envelope creasing. Even with the spring pressure reduced in the 2nd BTR envelopes will be creased on the back side. So switching between BTR's with the softer roller and steel roller is needed. UGH...Come on Xerox!

There is no one set answer for how much toner any press uses. It's all dependent on how much coverage is in the image you are printing. Toner could last for thousands if you're printing light text, but could get eaten up rapidly if there's a huge solid image or background on the page. Any toner yield provided by a manufacturer is usually based on 5-10% coverage on an 8.5x11 sheet. As other's have stated, you should avoid this deal and find someone who will include toner because that will be more consistent for your pricing - plus there should be plenty of dealers who will include toner in their plan.
