want to know Relation between some units

In our CTP machines I see some units and their settings,
Laser Power (for laser)
Drum RPM (for drum rotation)
focus (for lens)
zoom (for lens)
I want to know that ,
what are the working of these units, their relation with each of them, how the effect the exposure. ?
