Print engine is the same, the controller is different.
The WC7655 has a Xerox office controller, NO COLOR MANAGEMENT AT ALL. You print, and it is what it is.
The DocuColors 240/250/242/252 have a Graphic Arts RIP : FIERY, CREO, FREEFLOW, SPLASH. These RIPs are designed to provide the best color quality PLUS a lot of different color management tools.
If you print a file in both machines, you will clearly see a difference in Image Quality.
It's like having 2 different cooks (Office Controller vs RIPs) using the same oven (Print Engine). Even though they use the same oven, each cook has a different recipe for an apple pie, the results will be different. Hope you get the idea.
