Konica Minolta RIP maintenance

Hi all,

Just a quick question. Anyone who's bought a Konica Minolta digital printer, have they been told that the monthly RIP maintenance fee is compulsory, or on the contrary have they been sold a machine without the fee in place?

Thanks,
Andrew

I believe that any maintenance of the RIP is included in the maintenance costs. Are you hoping to maintain the RIP device yourself?
Ours has needed a few calls so it's not money wasted to me.

Thanks, we were sold the policy under the insistence that it was compulsory yet we haven't had to use it so we feel it is a miss selling. We're looking for people who bought a Konica Minolta in the UK and didn't have to purchase the RIP maintenance agreement.

We're not looking for evidence, just informal information so we know where we stand.

I have the KM Press C1060 with Fiery controller IC-308. At first we had this machine as lease. We paid a fee for maintenance everything included and a fee for lease. After the company went bankrupt, we made a restart and bought the machine from the lease company and signed a new maintenance contract. Suddenly we had to pay an extra fee for the IC-308 rip for maintenance. Why they haven't mentioned and specified it before, I don't know. But now they do.

Andrew,

I work for Konica Minolta (direct channel, not a dealer) as a production print specialist in California. Did you buy from KM direct or from a dealer? It's not our policy to charge a separate fee on the print controller. It's always included in the maintenance fee with the clicks on the machine. I supposed this could be different in other countries?
