Does Nexus Manager 8.5 work in Mountain Lion?

I'm curious if anyone has tried using Nexus Manager 8.5 in Mountain Lion. What should I be watching for? Or is it a lost cause? Any info would be very helpful.

    Printing from InDesign

I've always assumed that InDesign was recreating some printing cache file that gets deleted when caches are cleared with CacheOutX. Are you using something similar to clear you caches daily?

Snow Leopard only loads fonts after rebooting

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I was able to create a new admin User that does work with the fonts the way you'd expect using the "~/Library/Fonts/" folder.

Snow Leopard only loads fonts after rebooting

Thanks chevalier, but no I haven't upgraded to 10.6.5. It is however, Quark/Suitcase/FontExplorerXPro/FontAgentPro specific since the fonts do show up in TextEdit but will not activate with any of the above listed font managers or show up in QX. Luckily, I have a complete backup of the...

Thanks for your quick response Bo3b, however I've tried all of those suggestions without success.

Snow Leopard only loads fonts after rebooting

Adobe CS5 forced us to upgrade our only Intel Mac. I skipped Leopard and went straight to Snow Leopard (10.6.4). While all seems well with how we use Adobe Apps and fonts, I am unable to get any version of Quark (6.5, 7.x, 8.x) to recognize fonts copied to the "~/Library/Fonts" until after I...

CS5 InDesign not ripping correct page numbers

The quick fix was to set CS4 to run in Rosetta, can't do that with CS5.

Finalproof lamination problems on uncoated stocks

I have 'acceptable' luck when laminating to uncoated stocks 80lb and over, some times the edges are rough. 70lb can work if I reduce my speed (only 2 settings on my laminator) AND pad using 3 sheets of stock going through the laminator. Hope this helps.

Stretching Films!!! what can we do???

That imagesetter is a Capstan device, it's rated repeatability is +-1 mil over 8 consecutive 8"x13" images. If your film is larger or not imaged consecutively than your trying to exceed the capability of the imagesetter. I'm very skeptical that the processor is changing the film size since I've...

    upgrade Tiger to Snow Leopard

I wasn't brave enough to upgrade my Tiger to SnowLeopard. Instead I added a second HD and installed SL on it., and I'm glad I did. While it can be a hassle to reboot to switch OS, I'm sure its less of a hassle than going whole hog with the upgrade and finding out it broke your system.

InDesign CS3 creates 4C crop marks???

Printing Trumps PDFing (sometimes) Printing Trumps PDFing (sometimes) There is probably a CMYK image in the placed AI file. InDesign can't determine wether the CMY plates from the image are blank or not so it prints them. The only way I know around this is to print only the desired...

    Corrupt Fonts

This most commonly happens when Mac fonts are compressed with a Windows app or when an AFP volume is mounted as a SMB/CIFS (or vice versa) before compressing. The data for type one fonts is in the resource fork, but when compressed using a windows app, the resource fork isn't included. Fonts...

    PDF Workflow

Imposing the actual normalized PDFs is dangerous in that your imposing program has to process all that high res data, which is one reason (among others) why we haven't made the leap to a PDF workflow. At a seminar last fall, Esko indicated that they can make screen res raster PDFs of the...

    CMY Plates in InDesign

I've also noticed that "most" of the time, even though the CMY plates are selected to print, they won't if it would result in in a blank plate.

    CMY Plates in InDesign

In short, no, you can't prevent CMYK from being listed in the print dialog. You don't need to print (to paper or PDF) in order to determine if CMY are being used. Instead, use Separation Preview to view the individual inks in InDesign. From the Window menu select Separation Preview from the...

    Quark 8, 7, 6, etc.

Color definitions also change from version to version. I don't have QX8 yet (none of my customers have upgraded yet) but I do know that the definition of PMS Red 032 is different in QX7.x than it is in QX6.x. I agree with toronar, keep it native. Open 6 with 6, 7 with 7 or you'll have issues.

File names - Extreme Zip archives

Perhaps SMB has been upgraded. When I attempt to connect to a volume via SMB (smb://192.168.1.x), the mac makes an CIFS connection! Now that's something it didn't do before. I retract my previous statement, SMB does equal CIFS, but it hasn't always.

File names - Extreme Zip archives

NO, CIFS does not equal SMB. Fonts copied via SMB and accessed via SMB, CIFS or AFP will not work, fonts copied via CIFS will work when accessed via CIFS. I use both protocols because neither is a complete solution. The expense of ExtremeZIP is greater than the cost a Mac server and both are...
