Splitting even paged PDFs in half saved as two files

If you're on a Mac, or have access to one, you could actually do this rather easily using the Coherent PDF Command Line Toolkit (CPDF) and a little bit of basic Applescript... CPDF can glom the total number of pages from the PDF, then use the total number of pages ÷ 2 to split the files into two...

    Command Workstation VS Xerox Freeflow

Hiya- I've used the Fiery extensively on many different machines in my ~24 years of experience. I have about a year of hands-on with the FreeFlow DFE on a Xerox Color Press 1000. I can say without hesitation that I do NOT like the FreeFlow. Moving from a Fiery to the FreeFlow feels like moving...

Enfocus releases PitStop Pro 12 and PitStop Server 12 at Print 13

Hiya- Thanks for the reply. And thanks HEAPS for the tip about shift-clicking with the output preview window open. That was driving me bonkers. I will contact support about the crashes, and will email you about the spot colors. Thanks again for your help. Pitstop is a fantastic product, and it...

Enfocus releases PitStop Pro 12 and PitStop Server 12 at Print 13

Now, granted, I've only been running it for about a week, but I've noticed three things that jump out at me: - Many more Acrobat crashes, apparently primarily after invoking Pitstop. Of course, I upgraded to Acrobat Cloud (or XI or whatever) and Pitstop 12 at about the same time. Not a fresh...

    Identify these press marks?

----- Um, how ya figure? He said "When we pull the plates from press, we see a small shiny mark on the plate as if it was scratched. We do not see this on plate prior to going to press." I can't see how that's a pre-press issue. Sounds mechanical to me.

    Hardware to address magazine?

Hmmmm... I assume you'd rather not preprint the covers before making the booklets because if the booklet maker eats one, it would be a pain to reprint the eaten cover? I'm afraid I don't know the answer. I've never seen a machine that could do that... It would probably be some kind of inkjet...

    Folder Mapping

Hiya- I have no experience with a Nexus RIP. We run a Rampage RIP, and when we migrated from a Windows NT server to a Mac OS server, permissions were a pretty big deal, until we figured it out. The documentation is next to worthless; it takes some research, then lots of fiddling. Dunno if this...

    Hardware to address magazine?

Hi Cameron, Your requirements are a bit vague, can you give some more specifics? These projects... are they already printed, and you want to run them through again and put addresses on them? How many? Or do you need to address them as they are printed? Any more details you can provide will...

Help me choose between a Xerox J75 and a KM C7000 or C6000

Hello- We have a 700 with a Creo RIP and a KM C8000 with a Fiery RIP (and a 242...). The most important advice I can give based on our C8000 is do NOT get the KM without the humidifier if you are concerned about curl. We don't have the humidifier, and even the maximum decurl is not enough for...

    Complex VDP Job Help

I believe XMPie can do this as well. Our VDP needs are not as advanced, so we went with DesignMerge. Pretty sure DesignMerge cannot do what you need. Hope that helps.

What book are you currently reading?

Pantone coated to process, 2008. Starts out bright and cheery, but gets pretty gloomy and dark towards the end. Oh, you mean at home... that'd be Black Hills by Dan Simmons. It centers around a Native American named Paha Sapa living in the late 1800's, early 1900's. It's fiction, but some...

    InDesign gradient question

Hmmm... it sounds like the dieline is an InDesign polygon with a spot stroke? Make sure there are no transparency effects on that polygon (Effects palette -> Clear Transparency). Maybe try exporting as an EPS with nothing but the dieline, and then Placing that EPS back in? Also, is the dieline...

Ohcf / sra3 tray for xerox dc 250 a3 printing issues and skew

Hiya- I have a 242, should be about the same. When you load the stock, and it asks what size it is, instead of picking from the canned presets, manually enter the (measured) dimensions of the stock. What weight stock you feeding?
