Color seperation

We have artwork PDF files from which we need to extract and display the CMYK and Pantone colors used. Then be able to remove some colors and show the PDF with the remaining. Is there a way to do this outside of Adobe Pro? Does anyone know a software or component which will allow this to be done? Thanks.

In the least you can use output preview in Acrobat Pro to turn off separationss for previewing. But to actually remove the separations you would need Enfocus PitStop Pro or callas pdfaroolbox.

Just place the file into InDesign
and print separations to PostScript.
Chose any combinations of colors you want.
Then Distill.

Totally remove some spots - or perform selective remapping to other spots? It can be the same thing at times!

To remove spots in a PDF in a composite workflow in Acrobat Pro is possible, however it takes a little bit of work.

1) Create a PDF with a spot white colour
2) Combine/insert this temporary spot white PDF into the main spot colour document
3) Alias (remap) the unwanted spot colours to the spot white colour
4) Remove the temporary white spot colour page from the PDF

Hope this helps,
