Hey guys! New here..... first post. My company is having problems with our Xerox which is under a maintenance agreement. We are having problems with the color solids as the step down from full saturation.

What the hell could be causing this.... in the past we have changed the transfer belt, imaging units, and the fuser. Every time the xerox techs come they change somthing else willy nilly. THe problem seems to get fixed a bit but then always comes back with a vengeance. The one thing that has never been changed our the LED units?

One tech said arc-ing, one tech said the transfer case was to blame. THe thing that seems weird is that if there was detachment of color causing the flaking shouldnt it be on all the steps of solid? Weird that on full density it doesnt seem to do it? Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance guys!

Hi, #1, there is no arching for these machines as there are no high voltage wires
#2, I am OKI certified tech (this machines is OKI) what is transfer case? was that tech a automechanic specializing in SUVs? - never heard of transfer case in printers and you did say that transfer belt was changed...
What kind of paper are you running? did you try something different?
Let me know.

Yup, tried it with different papers and different settings for all papers... same problem with the lower density solids.... on all colors with the black being slightly better. Again my gut tells me if it was a mechanical problem the pitting would be happening at all the levels of saturation.

I have noticed that when I clean the LED's with the alcohol wipe the newer toners come with the problem seems to get a little better for a little while. I cant help but think this is a LED lamps problem or possibly even a software problem? Its very weird though.....

Yes, it is. It looks like the toner repeats the surface of the paper, you did try glossy or other supersmooth media?
Lets look outside the box, literally - lets look outside the printer box...
Did this problem started to show with winter? How cold is it where ever the printer is? Any chance you can measure the humidity?
Do you have a power conditioner? - I.e. not a BS $5.99 power strip - real power conditioner?
There is an article the points to these problems, if air is too dry due to being heated and all moisture evaporated, it could affect the printing quality, if multiple heaters are on - they might add substantial noise to electric power so instead of laying smoothly on paper, toner particles stick to each other and could create the effect shown in your pictures...
I haven't seen too many bad LED arrays, may be 1 or 2 in 6 years dealing with these printers, I can probably spare few of them so you can try to change'em but I'd out it will make any difference...
Let me know.
