Envelopes on Xerox 1000i

Hey guys, I know there was another thread on this not too long ago, but no conclusion was ever came to. I have a 1000i without the oversized trays. I mean it already comes with a 4000 sheet capacity lol. Anyways, minimum sheet size is 7.2x7.2. Not exactly the size of a #10 envelope. When it was installed, Xerox said the only way to run envelopes on it is with the oversized trays and a special insert into the tray. Is this correct? Has anyone had any luck running #10's through the built in trays? Ive normally been outsourcing envelopes but if I can bring them in then Id like to. Also, I don't have near enough volume to justify another printer. Thanks.

I'm 95% sure even with the "postcard" insert in a oversized tray you will not be able to get a #10 through the 1000. The paper path just isn't designed for that.

I've had 0 luck with #10's. They jam every time. 9x12's run like a champ, but you can only load 20 at a time.

I have the L-Shape alignment tool and even with that I've had no luck. the #10 is just smaller than the minimum size on custom media. The only way I had luck running them is to open the flap and stuff them with an insert that is 8.0 x 9.5. The insert needs to be very light cardstock (80# or thinner if you can find it)

Good luck.
