Printing White on the Anapurna

I am new to this, so here goes! When printing on Dibond and there is White in the file, do you simply lay down a flood white layer and then print the Art on top of that? Or do you need to edit the file and call out the white as a spot or something? Thanks!

Preview the white separation/ink data from the file in the RIP driving the Anapurna. Is it an all over white, basically achieving the same thing as a “flood”? Or are there holes in the white, where the artwork is not calling for white, where the aluminium will show through with no ink or perhaps with say yellow/magenta ink directly on the aluminium to achieve a “spot metallic gold” effect?

If you assume a flood and the artwork was not calling for this, the customer would be entitled to a reprint. Best to understand the expectations of the client and or set a default workflow and file submission criteria upstream, so that you don’t have to ask these questions when the job is lined up for printing.

It's always something different. On this project we had the Operator Flood it. The file had lots of knock-out white text and art. It turned out Great!
