Process color set Delta numbers

Most of our vendors say 4 delta E is what they can hold for process, and 2 delta E for spot. But it's always been my experience that it's easier to hold color in process color than spot color. And when we check the job we see a lot less variance in process color than in spot. Process variations are usually under 1.

Way too lenient. Good color achievement is <1.5 for process and <1.0 for spots.

For higher quality offset printing for consumer labels, <.50 is recommended as to assure not to taint the image of the product. Off color, even slight will do that to the mind and human interpretation of what's inside the can or package.

COKE Red cannot be pMS 485 (just example) and approve at pMS 485 1/8. This is just provided for practical understanding for us laymen.

Well, all our print vendors acted like we were crazy asking them to hold under 2. I can only imagine if we asked them to hold under 1...
