    Saddle stitch and folding

I have this problem only when booklet making with gloss paper over 200 GSM. with one exception on thinner papers, one booklet i print has mostly all black pages with the exception of the center spread being mainly white, this book will consistently crease or crack the paper and jam oddly, if i...

    small perfect binder?

how to? how to? we're getting some samples for an off-line perfect binder. We'll probably settle on the Sterling Digibinder. when i was running off some samples prints I quickly realized that impositioning a perfect bind was quite different from saddle stitching. we run 9X12 (basically...

    sound dampening

Yes, yes i do. my official noise to sound recognition differential rating is rated quite high (ex-sonar tech). besides that though, i am fine with headphones. But would like to play nice with a neighboring call center.

    sound dampening

too late. built a glass soundproof room for the folder and hydraulic cutter. might have to do something like that for the printer, but it is a lot bigger and not as conducive to same type of construction. has anyone enclosed their unit in a soundproof box or layered the unit with sound dampening...

    sound dampening

Any suggestions for sound dampening digital printing machines without adding block and morter walls? my NRC is getting out of hand.

    IC-304 Creo RIP question

under finishing. slip sheets, tick the add slip sheets box, then select tray. in retrospect, this might only work with single copies and not complete runs.

    canon c6000, konica 6501, xerox 700

so did I for about a year. after awhile, the stresses of the heavier paper going through the machine with automatic double sided began to wear it down at a faster pace. vinyl gears. though they say it'll do up to 256 gsm, actual results may vary. it is safer to stay away from constant heavier...

    canon c6000, konica 6501, xerox 700

the konica 6501 can technically do up to 300GSM weight paper. but will only do up to maybe 230 gsm double sided without manual labor. it very paper specific, you can find the paper guide types list by going to each'es website and digging if you have some specific papers in mind.

    small perfect binder?

Thanks for the information, Looking off-line. After talking to our Konica tech, he agrees that the internal Perfect binder for the 6501 or 1051 can be laborious and problematic. We have an external Duplo Hydraulic Cutter, so trimming the interior pages before binding shouldn't be a problem. good...

Digital press for long term reliability

so after a year and a half or so with the 6501 with inline saddle stitcher, I have to say it has been a pretty good machine. service has been fair and frequent but responsive to find alternatives for down times. I suppose all of these type of machines require a good deal of maintenance. I think...

    small perfect binder?

We have a konica 6501 with saddle stitcher. We had planned to swap out the stitcher for an inline perfect binder if the books we made got too big. well, they have gotten too big. we are thinking of swapping in an inline perfect binder, putting in a B/W 1051 with perfect binder and post-inserter...

Digital press for long term reliability

"Guaranteed paper prices for life of lease". I'm thinking this was a pretty shrewd idea I had there. Especially since paper prices have jumped a few times this year. Since the dealers get their paper prices directly from same source, those dealer paper suppliers are aggressively assisting...

Digital press for long term reliability

Craig: price of paper was determined firsthand through paper distributers, so we got the best prices that we could before submitting our paper prices for inclusion into lease contracts, figured the larger printing suppliers could meet or beat those prices and have the security of fixed prices...

Digital press for long term reliability

still narrowing down our choices: Konica 6501-advantage-fast service time, larger more powerful but more complicated creo print server to run it, can do our perfect bound catalogs (full bleed or with tabs) limited to 200 sheets, right angle folded app sheets, external cutter, fully capable...

Digital press for long term reliability

Comparisons: HP indigo: way out of our league and price range. HP 6501: Guaranteed quick service, good tech support from the buying process, good add-ons and inline features, ability to break lease at any time. Canon C6000: Guaranteed quick service, a bit lower cost per month, good add-ons and...

Digital press for long term reliability

Nice machine, in-line trifold is nice touch. finishing is the killer for it though. need perfect binding capable of a minimum of 100 pages. Also the price point of xerox is pretty restrictive.

Digital press for long term reliability

Thanks, I think I was being too optimistic about projected life span. maybe thinking a 2008 digital printer would be as time tested and reliable as a duplo or ancient Heidelberg. The $1 buyout option had an advantage for tax incentive for this year, but maybe a FMV lease would be more...

Digital press for long term reliability

OK, don't flame me if these questions have been asked a million times before. I've been in competing talks between the konica 6500/6501 and the canon 6000 for several months now, we have the long term leased out with $1 buyout so it would be of benefit for taxes, price per print equaled between...
