Book and resource list

Greetings All,
Just joined in on the forum and I was wondering if there were any thoughts
On a recommended book and resource list on print science. I have been in the
Industry for 20 years and have not come accross many tech discussions of what
we do as an industry and why we do it.
Everything I have been taught is by word of mouth and trial and error.
Would like to learn more and more on color control, color repeatability,
and print science (dots, dot structure Etc) achievable duplicating of proof color on
Press etc. G7 standard etc
I appreciate any help, thanks in advance

There is a G7 guide picked up at IPEX.

Also the book "A Guide to Graphic Print Production" October 2006 published by Wiley, John & Sons, (ISBN-13: 9780471761389 ISBN: 0471761389 ) Is like an overview and a good general reference.

Digital Color Management by Homann is a good reference for colour control from the prepress side.

Well it all depends on how deep you want to go. I can't guarantee that these are still available but...

If there's a Bible for print it's: "Handbook of Print Media" - Helmut Kipphan, Heidelberg Press - isbn 3-540-67326-1 It's 1208 pages plus a CD of broadly painted information plus some deep dives into technology.

Then:

"Fundamentals of Lithographic Printing - John MacPhee - GATF isbn 0-88362-214-9
"Colour Control for Lithography" - Kelvin Tritton - PIRA - isbn 1 85802 036 0
Quality and Productivity in the Graphic Arts - Miles & Donna Southworth isbn 0-933600-05-4

There's of course much more but these are very good places to start as they go fairly deep but are still practical and semi/usually understandable by production people - not just academics.

Thanks for the replies , great information.
Looking forward to checking those resources out.
Really am interested in both information on the practical deeper academic level.
Production level ( color control ,repeatability and predictability )
Anything to help do away with the subjective nature of color, for example
Two individuals doing color on press from the same color proofs
a week apart and getting two very different results. This is really a problem with things like 102 page self cover book with all pages crossing over complete with
Built color header bars all the way across run on three different presses.

Also would really like to learn on the theoretical academic level,
for personal edification and curiosity.
