What version do you have?

A couple of weeks ago we were updated to 100.11.31. This seemed to help a number of issues including color stability and FWA alignment accuracy.

100.11.31 is what I have. I haven't tested it with FWA alignment yet but yes color seems to stay more consistent. What I am seeing though is more density in the 0 to 5% range which has brought some challenges especially with soft edges like drop shadows.

I hadn't noticed that. The FWA alignment, still isn't perfect. It seems to add perpendicularity and magnification adjustments, when none are needed, sometimes.

I was having trouble today getting the 1st side image straight on 100# gloss text. I was at the max skew adjustment, so I tried upping the regi-loop setting, then the aligner roll pressure. Even after maxing both out, I still wasn't seeing any real improvement, and there weren't any stop marks on the gripper edge of the sheet. It seems like if you are cramming it against the stops that much more than the default, you would have some marking on the gripper edge.

The 2100 is not much different that the other engines in that you really have to work with your tech and adjust the alignment so that all the sheets your printing on are covered. Make sure you send the jobs from the RIP and don't let the tech just use the service mode alignment tools on the limited paper options it allows. Just printing the service mode alignment on 11x17 sheets is not good enough. You will need to print all your papers from the RIP and find a balance.

The alignment profile settings need to have more room to work with on the Versant. We have pushed that info to the Xerox technicians, hope we will see a bigger range available in the future.

Of course you get a new batch of paper in and it is cut .3 of a millimeter off and then your alignment is no longer accurate.

I am supposed to be getting 100.11.41 next week.

Any noticeable difference of 100.11.31?

They didn't get finished with the machine until 4pm, so I didn't have much time with it. I will let you know how it runs next week.

I called service, for the second time about chunks of partially fused black toner falling on the sheets, I mean multiple pea sized flakes. Both times they have had to do a thorough cleaning around the drums, and this time they told me that there are sensors on the bottom side of the drum tray, which reads the toner density on the IBT Belt, and that if these get dirty it can cause problems.

I also seem to have to regularly clean the laser windows on this machine. Overall it just seems to have a lot of toner flying around inside. It makes me wonder why in 1.5 million clicks, we haven't ever had a problem with toner on sheets, or building up on the laser window, on our C75.
