Xerox 700

One of our client doesn't like glossy result. Is there less glossy (shine) result of 700. We are using DC7000.

Yes. The Xerox 700 does not use fuser oil; then is less "glossier" than a DC7000
 
We are also looking at the xerox 700.
We are are 38 + year old printer & envelope manufacture, that feels we need to jump on the band wagon or pack our bags.
I need as much input as possible. Cant make a bad decision especially in these times!!

What are you getting as far as pricing??

Why is it suggested to lease instead of buy the Xerox 700??

I was thinking it would make more sense to buy it. Will it become obsolete in less than 5 years? Im involved in a small town print shop who is trying to get onboard with the current trend of short-term digital printing.

The decision for me is between the Xerox 242 and Xerox 700. The registration front to back is said to be really bad on the 242, so cutting would be far more difficult. What else is there to consider between these two models. The 242 is half the price of the 700, so just trying to make the best decision in a bad economy.

Why Lease.... for me I am now on my 7th color box. You can bet your butt, that by year 3 or 4 either your volume will out grow your box or your customers paper requests will. In my case it has been both, so you buy a box and in 3 years you have an obsolete piece that is worth nothing. But with a lease (we usually do 5 years) in year 3 I can negotiate a trade for a larger, better, faster yadda, yadda box. There may be some other tax advantages as well with a lease, take that up with your accountant.

My advice to you is buy the largest device loaded with the most crap on it that you can afford. Don't make the mistake of budget buying if you are in a production environment. If you do, please stock up on the Tums or Mylanta, at some point you'll need it.

Don't make the mistake of believing everything your sales monkey is telling you. It's not as easy as pressing the big green button and walk away.
 
There are different benefits of Leasing vs Buying like tax breaks, better click rates, cash flow, etc.

Even though you'll probably do a lease for 5 years to keep your monthly payment low (btw, Xerox can do 84 months to keep your payment even lower), you'll never wait until the end of the lease to change your equipment. either you'll call your vendor, or the vendor will show up in year 2-3 to offer you something better, faster and probably either for the same price or less expensive.

Thanks for the advice. My shop is going to be a bit different than some in that we are running 3 Offset lithography printing presses already, and are just looking to add something ditial to compete in the short run, lower quantity print jobs.

Say I want to pick up an extra 10 jobs a week at an average of 200 QTY single sided. Thats 2000 clicks a week, and 9,000 clicks per month. Thats just over 100,000 clicks a year for the digital press.

Anything thats 500+ QTY is more efficient running through the offset anyway. And letterheads/envelopes cannot be done digitally with a 242 or 700. My sales guy says they cannot do envelopes, and you cant do letterheads on it because the toner would melt going through a laser printer when they print on the letterheads.

Do you guys still suggest leasing if we are not going to use the digital machine super-heavy duty?
 
You may want to re-think that. I can have 1000 tri-folds 4/4 printed and folded before you can make the plates and hang them on a press.

I will know more when I compare the cost curves. Im still trying to figure those out. Really, it depends on the buy/lease decision. The cost per click in a lease is different than in a buying situation. The salesman says the lease would be 5 cents/click .. does that seem fair? Also, whats the difference in cost for digital paper as opposed to standard offset litho-paper? I can factor all of the cost differences in and figure the exact QUANTITY it becomes cheaper to run the litho press as opposed to the digital press.

Wondering if anybody will share what they are paying for the 700 on a 60 month lease in the USA.
I was all set to get a 700. The xerox specialist ballparked the base 60 month lease at less than $1100/month. today, I get the quote from the vendor at almost $1400 per month. Feel like they are trying to rip me off. This is for the base machine plus any options.
Anybody?

I just got quoted around $1450 per month for the xerox 700, choice or either the fiery or freeflow external rips, 1 large capacity tray, and the light production c finisher with booklet maker and interface module. The sales rep says that about at their cost but I have no idea. How does that compare to what you got? I have estimate pricing for each component broken down separately. Send me a private message and we can compare the offers we are getting.

If you read my post is says $1400 for the base, no options. No other factors involved
 
I also get quote with $1400 per month which iclude free flow print server. My origional quote is base machine for $920 per month. Any one can give some suggestion of what options and add on is crucial to sign a lease with xerox. Any terms that I need to add in case machine is not perform according to what rep is presenting?
