Xerox 700

We bought a 700 6 months ago and was never able to use it tech's did many this to try and resolve this problem but in the end they ended up replacing it wiht a brand new machine.

So the machine arrived on thursday tech. assembled the printer and on friday i started running tests but my alignment is all out of wack. I tried duplex, printing the image one one side putting it back it and printing on the other side. All of the trays customed cut stocks, pre cut stocks. Using the Alignment adjustment on the printer and also the paper tray alignment in the Comand workstation which runs off of a fiery.

The tech is stumped and Im fed up with XEROX anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? They will take the machine apart and re-align everything but that should not be the case with a brand new machine!

Tell the service manager you need the specialist to come out. Not sure what are you area your are in, but Typically Xerox has one. With out knowing what kinds of stock (gsm/coated/uncoated) you are running its hard to comment on whether it is within spec.

Did they show you how to use the customer paper profiles?

I am sales end for Xerox (Agent) so I would be "hammering" the service manager eveyrday to get this fixed for you.

I would do some tests with Xerox paper. Just to see if the problems remain. Ask the tech or sales rep to bring some Xerox media.

I did do some tests with xerox paper Ive done everything I could possibly think of and he has done the same I don't want to believe it or think it but maybe we got two faulty machines.

That's really weird. I can only suggest bringing the Xerox Technical Specialist.

Bringing a Xerox Systems Analyst might be helpful too.

Yea It is living so far up north I can only imagine how the machine was treated when coming up here. But I have lots of samples to show the tech, he hasn't suggested bringing up a specialist but Im getting pretty demanding on things So stressful.

Specialists need to be approved by the tech???

The machines do not come 'Aligned' when delivered. So some machine may be 'out' more than others. Ask your tech to bring in a specialist to align all of your trays. Once that has been done (which they will align the trays with regular paper 8.5 x 11 or 11 x 17), you need to do your own alignments (on the user interface of the machine) for the papers your using.
The 700 has alot of options and settings that really need to be all done before you start using the machine. It takes a bit of time to set everything up, but once its done your life will be much easier, and you will love the 700.
From what i have heard there are many people having this problem of alighnment, esp for heavy coated stocks front to back. You need to be an experienced/advanced user to set the machine up for this. Dont count on your Xerox tech or specialist to do this for you...

Trust me its worth the time and effort to read up on alignment and do the adjustments..
You will need to do many test prints (each time you make a slight adjustment, make a test print to tune it in).
It may seem an impossible task, but once its done, you should have to change it, apart from slight adjustments over time.

Hope that helps!

x700 as a model - at least here in europe - has a severe problem with printing high coverage on gloss paper. Even Xerox guy claim they are unable to do anything. Alignment can be set up on machine which works then almost ok - within specs. I would check also rip in your case, seems more like a sw factor to me.
Do testing on xerox paper, to avoid paper factor.

I'm wondering why you still have this problem in Europe. I'm impressed that Xerox Service in Europe seems not to be talking to their engineering support in Rochester, NY.

Carnaticpress posted some PDF documents at another thread that fix this issue; do a quick search.

If they cant get it correct on the second try, then you have a strong lemon case.
