Just a follow up. We purchased a Oki 9650 and have been using it for several months now. For envelope printing, for the most part it has been great. It occasionally, for no reason, will drop out some of the color on a logo or text on a #10 reg. or window. As far as running card stock. We ran several business cards, 12 up on 8.5x11 12 pt C1S. After 4 or 5 runs, each about 50 sheets per job, we noticed a slight toning in the background. Progressively after a few more runs it got to the point we could not sell the sheet it was tinted so badly. We called Oki service, they asked for samples, which we sent. Their reply was, it was well within the machines tolerances. They also made the comment that the machine was never designed to run coated stock. (not a real impressive tech team) I asked would it handle 12 point stock non coated, to which they answered yes. So we ran uncoated thru it and still it toned. So, I called Okis reseller, who we bought the machine thru, and they sent out new drums and toners. We installed them and for the first 100 or so sheets it worked great. Then, back came the toning. Morale of the story. I guess if your buying the machine just for envelopes it does a pretty decent job. We have ran several color, 1 and 2 and 4/c jobs and it performed well so far. But if you want to use it as a backup for business cards, postcards etc.. your probably out of luck. The drums dont seem to hold up and its to expensive to replace every 100 or so sheets. Like our experience with Xante envelope press. Buyer beware. We are still working with Okis reseller to see if there are other options to clearing up the toning, but, so far no success. I will keep an update on our continuing experience.
