Hello all,

I'm an Accountant in a small printing company in Cape Town, South Africa. Been working there for about 8 years now. Learning everyday and hoping to do some more here. Have some ideas on my own. Would like to see if you guys could give it a look in.

The areas that I have special interest in are Pricing, costing, production performance evaluation, budgeting... etc. Anyone else interested in this?

Hi, im new here and fairly new to print, well two years of experience in repro or prepress. and about 6 months in finishing.
I work for a UK company, and we have a 4 colour Komori, single colour MO, and a 2 colour Quickmaster.
In my department we have an Epson Stylus Pro 9800 for large format and Proofs, with GMG ColorProof 4.
We run Torrent RIP with a Highwater Python Platesetter, and a Heights Inca 80P, using FujiFilm chemicals and negative plates.
We also have a Xerox DC250 and DC242, with in Fiery RIP.

Hello everyone, My name is Roman, I am owner of small ( I guess) print / copy shop in NYC.
It had started in 1997 when I was in my early 20th and started my carrier as business equipment service engineer later on had opened a my own service/sales business and small copycenter and driven by customer's demand had to get my hands in ofsset printing learning it from a scratch. I still have a service company and enjoy little interesting things like trading equipment and supplies.

Hi All,

My name is Geraldine and I am in the UK, Head of Design for a Dental Plan Administration company. We create bespoke literature for all our customers so they have their own branding and everything is printed in-house on a Xerox 700 digital colour press.

I am from a design background but need to be more tech savvy to enable artwork to print as best as possible. It's a learning curve and I am going to invite our Head of Production who runs the print shop to join the forum too. Most of problems seem to be software related rather than mechanical.

I love photography and looked after Charlie Waite's studio for about 6 mths a few years ago, and helped produce his giclee prints on a wide format HP Designjet. At my current workplace I also use HP Designjet Z3100 for large format.

My name is Steve, and I was recently released from my position at Rampage Systems, the RIP manufacturer. I worked at Rampage primarily in the sales department as a pre sales software demonstrator. Prior to that, I worked in a Service Bureau where we used the Rampage System as our Ripping system. I also worked at Benjamin Franklin Printing, now known as BFS printing in Boston.
Besides keeping up with the trends (I followed the forums while at Rampage), I am obviously interested in any employement opportunities in the Boston area. Along with the prepress apps, I have also taken some courses in Dreamweaver and Flash.

My name is Dennis and I am a pressman and work for a College District we print for 2 diffrent Colleges in our district Right now I run a Hamada A252 this is a 2 color 14X20 press it is really a Hos with Hamada covers on it. we are getting a new 4 color in the new 3 weeks so that should be fun. I have worked here for 13 years and before that I was a Repair Tech for Multigraphics for 12 years. I have been in printing since Jr high School LONG time LOL and still love it. And I am in So. My name is Ian, 10 years experience in Print/Prepress, came from a chemical and IT background, Agfa and Krause Trained to service/installation technician level Worked as a contractor to Agfa for several years hand holding four of their CTP lines , processors and punch benders through their bedding in period after their installation, 5 years resolving press and pre-press and plate issues. Previously a Technical Director with a company formulating chemicals for specialist wet applications in print, dye, coating and textiles and previous to that I was a service director for an IT company.

Forte is problem resolution in Mechanical/electrical, electronic, chemical and IT issues.

More recently as a pre/press tech with national newspaper print house, developing test procedures and implementing quality systems, setting up maintenance schedules, resolving issues in the year it gained the accolades of national newspaper of the year, national newspaper printer of the year and award for best use of colour.
